Unplug electric appliances or switch off the breaker before inspection. If you smell gas, burning, or see smoke, stop immediately and contact a qualified professional.
Pause and protect the floor
If the washer is full of water, do not keep restarting the cycle. Turn it off and keep towels nearby in case the door or lid needs to be opened after draining.
Balance the load
An overfilled, single-heavy, or tangled load can keep the washer from spinning. Remove a few items, spread the remaining laundry evenly around the drum, then try a spin-only cycle.
Check the lid or door
Close the lid or door firmly and look for clothing caught in the seal or latch area. Do not bypass a lid switch or force a locked door open.
Look for a drain problem
If water is still in the drum, the washer may be unable to spin because it cannot drain. Check that the external drain hose is not kinked or crushed, but do not disconnect hoses while water remains inside.
WHEN TO CALL OSH TECH
Stop and schedule service if you hear grinding, smell burning, see a leak, or the machine will not drain or unlock. Motor, belt, pump, suspension, and electrical repairs should be handled by a qualified technician.
